RELATED IDEAS

GDPS xDR support for z/OS under z/VM, similar to what is supported with z/VSE, Linux on Z, etc.

Some customers would like to run z/OS under z/VM, especially on DR site or on zCloud space where there are LPARs limitation in the physical CPUs, and they would still want to have the ability to manage z/OS systems as z/VM guests. 

Based on discussions with one of the GDPS Developers, it is something possible (probably in use on some lab environments) but not officially supported, therefore raising the idea for further discussions.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because it is not consistent with the product architecture and our strategy for future releases.

    We need more info to understand the Idea. Pls describe the use case, the environment (e.g., single z/OS, monoplex, sysplex, GDPS Metro, etc.), and purpose (e.g., dev/test, QA, production, etc.). Thanks
