That GDPS LCP & GDPS MGMxSITE interact with TDMF automatically.

If I am not mistaken, if you have GDPS LCP and want to perform disk TDMFs, you must manually perform the following sequence of actions:

1._ Extract the TDMF TARGET disks from the GDPS LCP ‘session’.

2. Wait ‘x’ amount of time until all SGC BACKUP copies that include disks expire.

3. Perform TDMF.

4. Immediately include the disks back in the GDPS LCP ‘session’.

These actions should be automated and controlled from GDPS to minimize the lack of data backup between steps 3 and 4. If there is an alteration/corruption of the data before including the TDMF TARGET disks in the GDPS LCP session, we would be unable to reconstruct the information on those disks.

    Hi,

TDMF is performed between two primary devices, so the source and target of TDMF are both A.RS1. If I am not mistaken, when TDMF is performed from one A.RS1 disk to another A.RS1 (target), the latter undergoes a ‘significant’ modification (depending on the data on the TDMF source disk) and causes the multiplier factor associated with the SGC to increase considerably (jeopardizing the SGC Backup copies).

The tests we have performed are on a virtual SGC on a tertiary disk with GDPS MGM3SITEs.

    Regards, Miguel.

Using A. RS1, A.RS2, B.RS1, & B.RS2 nomenclature, what disk will be the source & target for TDMF? What is the use case?
