Description:Lack of support in GDPS related to handling of Recovery sysplexes/proxies when we use GDPS/LCP functionality.
Use case:GDPS clients using GDPS LCP feature haven’t any standard functions to execute start and stop of LPARs in a Recovery sysplex in parallel with the normal sysplex. We often test our recovery sysplexes and IBM even states that they should be IPL’ed fully automated according to their zCybervault presentations. Today all IPL of a recovery sysplex must be handled manually via usage of the HMC and in many sites, access to HMC is very restricted.
Business justification:We expect GDPS/LCP is undertaking a revolution; not an evolution. IBM is selling zCybervault solutions, but it appears like the tools to support the functionality isn’t following the same speed as what we see from sales people. We need something like: Managing the IPL of the recovered SGC systems from the Site Table via scripts. A solution could be to have a different system type that identifies systems, to IPL in a different sysplex, or having a different specific Site Table related to the LCP/recovery handling. All supported as standard actions and LCP/Recovery scripts. All must be RACF protected with Role based Security profiles (RACF) where we can segregate the parallel recovery sysplex from the original sysplex. It should support a sysplex as well as single proxies.
