GDPS A-A Sites / FIS Connex Interoperability

The client has GDPS A-A sites implemented in an Active Standy configuration in production with a FIS Connex workload. However, since Connex requires exclusive access to its VSAM files, compromises have been required to implement IIDR for VSAM. Primarily, that the Connex application can not be actively running on the standby plex, so is a cold-standby. This has a number of key impacts:
1. The switch time is elongated, due to having to stop replication and start Connex as part of the switch.
2. The switch automation is complicated

There are also some other areas where interoperability between GDPS A-A Sites and Connex could be improved, around the replication latency of VSAM data, such as:
- avoiding Connex holding read-for-updates on VSAM files causing high latency
- avoiding high latency due to data being held in the CICS VR log buffer.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because it won?t be pursued within our planning cycle.
