GEO-557 (produban) Make GDPS/GM local instance more movable

SUBMITTER SECTION

PUBLIC
Requirement Number and Title: GEO-557 (produban) Make GDPS/GM local instance more movable
Homework Assigned: No
Requirement Category: GDPS/GMGDPS/PPRC
Current Status:
Closed Status:
Session:
Requirement Value Category: Continuous Availability / Continuous Operations
Product Affected: GDPS Automation
Problem Description: In a MGM IR configuration and as new possibilities arise (Incremental Resynch return Home option) Local controlling GDPS instances (KG) are more likely to be moved from one system to another. In particular in an IR scenario KG should be located where primary Metro Mirror disks are. So if we change from an ABC to a BAC configuration we should also move KG. In order to do this there are some steps to do such as stopping KG stopping remote instance (KR) starting KG in a new system (if datasets are the same this can be done quite transparently) and finally starting again KR. If we did not stop KR while moving KG it would reject all connection trials. In a Return Home scenario we have to start KG in a GDPS/PPRC controlling system because it is assumed that no other systems are alive in the sysplex in this site. Due to controlling systemM-^Rs nature as it is isolated from data point of view no dataset sharing can be done.

After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because it won?t be pursued within our planning cycle.
