Usage statistics for REXX programs running in NetView

The only available approach to get information of used resources is AUTOTASK based (commands TASKMON and TASKUTIL). This is not very useful to obtain precise information on how REXX programs inside NetView are performing.
In order to determine if REXX programs (no matter what AUTOTASK is in control) are consuming in excess CPU or MEMORY there should be a way of saving usage statistics to be enabled/disabled at general level or for selected REXX programs. The idea is to save (for example in wrap-around files) one record related to the execution of every occurence of REXX after the program has normally or abnormally ended (one record per execution: summarization could be done through user written tools). The bigger the file, the more records will fit. Information to be saved could be the start and end TOD, the CPU time, the memory high water mark, the total I/O operations executed, etc.

My biggest concern (and thus requirement) for this kind of monitoring is the overhead. If the function only provided monitoring at a global (all on/all off) level, I'd be very hesitant to use it. It needs to support a list of clists that are monitored. That said, I'll vote for it.

I would prefer IBM supply tools to mine the data as well.
