This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

For us the MVS part is a 'must have' in order to have an alternative for the ftp solution we currently use, the unix part is a 'nice to have'. But I do understand that there might be challenges. Feel free to split the RFE.
Thank you for taking the time to suggest an enhancement to our product. Many of our product enhancements result from feedback from our customers, so your input is always very important to us. Your request is currently under discussion within the team but our suggestion is to separate this RFE idea into 2 RFEs - one for support for UNIX append, one for support for MVS append.
The UNIX append idea is inline with the team's vision. However, the MVS approach is still under discussion as introducing this will have further implications on other features as the MVS system has many more pieces down the line.
I think append could be a boolean option, defaulting to false to maintain compatibility with current working.
The base for this question is the equivalent option in ftp:
