SYSTEM AUTOMATION TO BE ABLE TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN PARENT TASKS THAT START A CHILD TASK WITH THE SAME NAME

There are applications should as WebSphere Message Broker (WMB) and Control-O, where the applications starts multiple secondary tasks with the same name, but different step name. This makes is difficult for automation to monitor and manage.

Automation could either enhance the existing INGPJMON or write a new monitor that will identify where a parent starts children with the same name and differentiates by ASID and stepname. Maybe the spawned children could even be defined to SA, using their jobname, but with a special stepname qualifier.

We are experiencing the same issues as we also use the IBM Integration Bus Broker. As mentioned this setup has one Broker STC. And the broker will start 1 or (many) more execution group STC's.

We also wrote our own monitor routine which works fine until you stop/start the SA agent. After that SA does no longer know the address space id. When one of the child subsystems is then stopped/started SA wlil erroneously update de status of the Broker as it cannot compare the ASID.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - zSeries Software
Product - Tivoli System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS)

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Automation
Product - Tivoli System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS)

In my view, you should be able to pass SA the stepname. So, using the example below, SA could simply issue an MVS D A,BPD1.BPD1 or MVS D A,BPD1.TMEBS01 to differentiate between the two address spaces shown.

    Hello Stephen,
thanks for sending us this requirement. As per my last update, we see this requirement as a candidate for a future release.
Today, we discussed your RFE in more detail. Some questions came up where I need your help.
Will you be able to issue a D A,L command in order to list the WMB and Control-O address spaces and send us the output?
Just to avoid confusion about the identifier and step name, could you please mark that data in the output which should be used by SA for monitoring and managing?
    Thanks for your help!
    Best Regards,
    Raimund Thielker
