IBM Z Software

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

z/OS Unix Access Report for Users or Groups

In zSecure, we can get an access report for a User or Group via the RA.3.4 panels. This report shows us what RACF resources an ID has access to, whether directly via the ID or via a connected Group (selecting option 2 in RA.3.4). Such a report currently does not exist for what a User has access to in z/OS Unix. We have had system programmers ask the question "Is there a way I can see everything in the Unix environment that my ID (or a Batch or STC ID) has access to?". This report would also be helpful for access certification purposes. The current reports we can get from zSecure only allow us to select on files/directories that are OWNED by a specific UID or GID. What I'd like to see is a report that is similar to RA.3.4 were I can see anything the ID can get access to in Unix - whether it's through the UID, a GID of a Group the User is connected to, or the OTHER(global) permission bits. An example would be user USER123. USER123 is connected to 3 groups with a GID: G1234, G5678 and G4321. That means there are three ways in which USER123 could have access to a file/directory in Unix. 1) USER123 owns the file, or is directly added to an extended ACL. 2) USER123 is connected to one of the three groups that is the GID owner of the file or is added to an extended ACL. 3) USER123 can get access to it via the OTHER permission bits (rwxr-x[r-x]). Attached is a word document with a rough example of how such a report could look.
