IBM Z Software

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

threshold on taskcnt for profiling report

I'm using profiling report. But analyzing performance on a small value of taskcnt is not significant
I would like to set a "threshold" for a taskcnt value to exclude small activity from analyzis

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Enterprise Tooling
    Product - CICS Performance Analyzer

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Enterprise Tooling
    Product - CICS Performance Analyzer

    Hi Sylvie,

Following our conference call, here is a summary of the suggestion from CICS PA development. Please let me know if you can use the "Exclude within Threshold" option as
described below. If you are able to use this option then please let me know if we can close this RFE.

As discussed during the call on 12th September, I would like you to consider an alternative option that could in fact provide you with an even more concise report.

As I understand it, your suggestion is to allow the user to specify the task count threshold below which summary lines are excluded from the report. Your reasoning is that if the task
count is so low, then the transactions belonging to that summary line are not very relevant and the report will focus on those that are.

I would like to provide another view that says that even though the number of transactions is low, there maybe adverse transactions profile statistics
of interest, e.g. significant increase in response or CPU time. By excluding those transactions purely based on the number of transactions executed could hide a potential problem.

The alternative option I would like to suggest I believe would give you a very concise report showing you only the relevant information, regardless
of task count. It is the profiling report option "Exclude within Threshold" . This option will exclude all entries that are within the Threshold values
and therefore only include entries of interest. I quote from the Help for this option..

"If all values on a Change line are within the thresholds you have set, selecting this option excludes the Change line and all corresponding report
output: its Report, Baseline, and Delta lines, and its key field values.

This option limits the report to differences between the report data and the baseline data that you consider to be significant, according to the
minimum threshold values that you set for percentage change."

Have you considered this option? If yes and you do not believe it gives you the report you need, please tell me why so I can understand your
requirement better and we can discuss further.
