This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

CICS currently puts out messages when it goes into an SOS condition and another set of messages when it is able to clear it:
DFHSM0131 CICS is under stress (short on storage below 16MB).
DFHSM0132 CICS is no longer short on storage below 16MB.
DFHSM0133 CICS is under stress (short on storage above 16MB).
DFHSM0134 CICS is no longer short on storage above 16MB.
However, CICS may put out dozens of these messages as it goes in and out of SOS. If CICS is able to recover on its own, the customer doesn't really need to know about it. However, if CICS is not able to clear the SOS condition, the customer needs to know that fact. Most customers use Automated Operators to watch CICS' logs for key messages to alert the operators of error situations. They get many false alerts based on the above messages. By the time the operator checks that CICS region, it has already cleared the situation.
The customer would like additional messages added to indicate that CICS has not been able to clear the SOS condition. The SMSY system task is invoked every 2 seconds during the SOS condition. If it is unable to clear the SOS condition within a certain amount of time, CICS should put out another message like:
DFHSMxxxx CICS is still under stress (short on storage above 16MB)
DFHSMyyyy CICS is still under stress (short on storage below 16MB)
A default time should be established (say 30 seconds) and a SIT parameter created to allow the customer to tune this value. The SIT parm would allow a customer to choose how long their system will wait before alerting them to the situation.
