Support for accessing DB2 from multiple regions in a global unit of work is provided in CICS TS 6.1 which is announced today April 5th and will GA June 17th 2022.

    See Announcement letter https://www.ibm.com/common/ssi/ShowDoc.wss?docURL=/common/ssi/rep_ca/2/897/ENUS222-092/index.html&request_locale=en

It will also be supported in CICS TS 5.5 and 5.6 via apars PH31012 and PH39766. The latter apar is yet to close.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

For the immediate future you should use the UOW affinity support provided in CICS TS 4.2.

There already is a requirement to provide a long term solution to multiple access paths to DB2. This is covered by RFE 17521. This RFE is being closed as a duplicate of that RFE. Note this is not a problem that can be solved by CICS alone. DB2 needs to be able to recognise that two threads are part of the same distributed unit of work. This is a candidate for a future release.
