CICS to provide an application setting that indicates the success level of a transaction

Business analytics requires knowing more about a transaction than just the CPU and elapsed time. The only current indicator of success is the abend code, which is too coarse an indicator. Did the transaction complete successfully? To what degree? Was the information/account data not found? Was the request partially completed? Was there a security error? What was the HTTP status code sent back? How can a CICS application provide this information so that it is stored in the SMF record and made available to business analytics tools?

We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

CICS provides functionality through event monitoring points to augment SMF 110 records. Additionally, transaction channels could also be utilised to allow applications to populate containers with meta data that could be inquired upon and altered later.
