No charge 'try before you buy' edition of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS

Many existing CICS Transaction Server customers would like to be able to 'try before they buy' the latest features and functions of the latest CICS Transaction Server releases, before they commit to a production upgrade. A 'try before you buy' edition would enable customers to evaluate, in a non-production environment, the value that they could gain from an upgrade, before they commit time and resources to a production migration.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

Yes, such an offering would be a sandbox edition to go play with.

Great idea to have such an offering, can you also advertise it as kind of sandbox implementation ?

The request for a minimum of a 90 day trial period seems like a reasonable period of time to us. We will take this into consideration.

We think the intention of the requirement is that anybody who would like to test the latest features and functions in a non-production environment, should be able to do so if they have the required pre-reqs (which are listed here : http://www-01.ibm.com/software/htp/cics/tserver/sysreqs/ )

Regarding the comment about 'Early Code', did you mean the CICS SVC and DFHIRP or something else ?

This is a greate idea and will bring more flexibility in planning for future versions/releases. The 'try before you buy' period should be at least 90 days.
We are an outsourcing company and have no application programmers of our own. Will it be allowed to give this trial version to our customer? So they could test and evaluate the new features.

My suggestion would be that the 'try before you buy' period should exclude the Early Code library i.e. because if a client has only 1 lpar for prod and devd. Getting an IPL in would be a challenge.

Partners will be able to leverage this with customers to help promote their offerings sooner into customer locations that may not yet be on the latest CICS TS version
