Whilst this RFE is a valid COBOL Standard requirement, based on our current plans and priorities, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months, or in the next IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS compiler release. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in our internal RFE backlog. As we work towards becoming aligned with the COBOL Standard, this RFE might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in 12 months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

This RFE is being moved to uncommitted candidate. It will be updated once put into plan.

This RFE is being investigated further and requires more time.

Description missing from above; see below:

Copied from old SHARE Requirements system SSLANG13003: Voting Priority=3.1

    NOTE:
As of the creation of this requirement, the ISO 2014 COBOL Standard has not yet been approved. However, it is expected that it will be approved and published (without any technical changes from its current content) by the end of 2014 and before IBM is likely to respond to this requirement

IBM should provide the same ROUNDING options in COBOL as it already does for PL/I, C/C++, and Assembler based on the specifications in IEEE 754 (aka "ISO/IEC/IEEE 60559: 2011, Information technology - Microprocessor systems - Floating-Point Arithmetic")

A full COBOL specification of this support is already available in ISO 2014 COBOL.

For comparable IEEE compliant support already available from IBM in DB2, see (for example):
