This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

For your information : there is a "bug" when calling LE CEEGTST in "DYNAM" mode --> Cobol program use a runtime subroutine witch is AMODE(31) and obtained memory is always above even if program is AMODE(24)... with abend S0C4 at runtime when accessing allocated memory
This RFE has been accepted. It will be updated once put into plan.
Hi, the point is having some options on the COBOL ALLOCATE statement to have the choice of allocating memory anywhere we want.
Hi, the idea is to have a behavior like the STORAGE OBTAIN macro. Therefore with a code like ALLOCATE(24) or (31) or (ANY) having a storage zone allocated accordingly.
Philippe.
ALLOCATE already allocates above the line if the program is 31 bit.
Is the requirement for a 31 bit COBOL program to have allocating statements below the line ie something like "ALLOCATE(24)"? or maybe have a compiler options for "ALLOCATE(24)" ?
