Enterprise Cobol V6 - Support of >>PUSH and >>POP directive as described in ISO Cobol standard 2014

Extract from ISO Cobol standard 2014 :

The state of compiler directives may be saved and restored with PUSH and POP directives. A “stack” is maintained that the state of a directive may be pushed on to. A subsequent POP directive removes the item from the stack and restores the state of the directive to that when it was pushed.

NOTE The PUSH/POP sequence is especially useful when using COPY to introduce text that contains directives that may already be specified earlier. Changing them in the added text may be overridden by a subsequent POP directive so the remaining source text behaves as if the changes were not made.

Whilst this RFE is a valid COBOL Standard requirement, based on our current plans and priorities, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months, or in the next IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS compiler release. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in our internal RFE backlog. As we work towards becoming aligned with the COBOL Standard, this RFE might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in 12 months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

Currently this RFE is not in the 2014 COBOL Standard. It is part of a working draft for the next version of the Standard.

Hence we are conditionally accepting this RFE until it becomes part of the Standard.
