Enable debugging of optimized COBOL code on AIX

With current version 4.1.1 of IBM COBOL for AIX it's not possible to debug optimized code. If you specify both OPTIMIZE and TEST options, TEST takes effect and OPTIMIZE is ignored.
Please consider to implement a sliding scale of choices for optimized debug, where you can choose what level of trade-off you want to make between fully optimized code, and fully debuggable code. This feature has already been added to the IBM XL C++ V12.1 compiler on AIX.
BTW:
It would be very nice if the IBM COBOL for AIX runtime could use this feature to produce a formatted Dump in case of application abends which reports the values of all variables .

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
    Product - COBOL Compilers

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
    Product - COBOL Compilers

    Hi,
I've opened a separate RFE to request the "Formatted Dump" functionality:

    Best regards from Germany

    BTW:
Micro Focus COBOL provides Formatted Dump functionality (called FaultFinder) similar to that found on mainframes, too.

Surprisingly this RFE has been partially delivered/implemented by chance... :-)
IBM COBOL for AIX compiler options TEST and OPT(FULL) can now be used in combination and full optimization is preserved.
PLease refer to IBM service request 00112 379 000 for details.
This new feature really helps a lot when analyzing production abends!
Thank you very much for implementation.
    BTW:
As already mentioned in the RFE a Formatted Dump which reports the values of all variables in case of application abends would be a very useful enhancement in the problem determination area, too. This feature is already known from IBM COBOL Compilers on System i and System z as well as from the COBOL-IT compiler on Linux/Unix/Windows.
    Thanks again.
    Best regards from Germany
    Stefan

This is in-line with IBM's multi-year strategy, but this RFE is currently not in plan. When this is put in plan, the RFE will be updated.
