Replace IGYCDOPT - Compiler options - with a regular options file

We want to move away from assembler based product options and modifications to a modern approach with regular parameter files. This approach provides more agility, easier maintenance and easy transparency on used settings. This initiative is not limited to COBOL but goes across the entire z/OS and z/OS middleware stack
 

So the request is to provide the options currently in the COBOL IGYCDOPT in a parameter file that can be changed without having to reassemble and deploy an options module.

    Hi, thank you for submitting this Idea. IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS is a continuous delivery offering, and aims to satisfy the needs of a rapidly evolving market segment. Product strategy evolves and requirements are continuously evaluated against that strategy. This idea has been appraised against the wider product strategy and does not fall into IBMs delivery plans for the next 12 month. A significant amount of effort will be required to implement this. Also, a lot of effort will be required to maintain the older method. Whilst this idea might be valid and we might look to deliver longer term, this idea is being rejected at this time. The requirement will be kept in our internal idea backlog and might be reassessed in the future.
