IBM Enterprise COBOL V6+ - Conditional compilation variable to reflect status of ADV/NOADV compilation option

Hi,

Depending on the ADV / NOADV compilation option chosen, the way of describing the record area of a report file is different:

• ADV option: the printer control character must not be described

• NOADV option: the printer control character must be described

Providing a conditional compilation variable reflecting the state of the ADV/NOADV option, aka IGY-ADV, would condition the code.

We have simulated this conditional compilation variable in our compilation procedures, but it would be preferable if the compiler supports it:

Other compilation options also impact how source code is written and similarly a conditional compilation variable could reflect the state of the option:

• ARITH(COMPAT|EXTENDED) : 9(18) vs 9(31)

• AWO : implicit or explicit APPLY WRITE ONLY

• BLOCK0 : implicit or explicit BLOC CONTAINS 0

• DISPSIGN(COMPAT|SEP) : automatic separate sign on display or need another data with explicit separate sign

• INTDATE(ANSI|LILIAN) : calculation using day 1 from Jan 1, 1601 or from Oct 15, 1582

• SSRANGE : implicit or explicit code to check out of range
