Hi Sarah,
Thank you for opening this idea. We have evaluated it and have come to the conclusion that adding native support for more formats such as YAML/YML will become infeasible.
Instead of adding support for YAML/YML, we intend to improve our interoperability with other languages such as JAVA which supports different formats such as YAML/YML and others.
Since this idea does not fall into IBMs future delivery plans, we will be rejecting this idea.
Hi,
I agree that the IBM Enterprise COBOL compiler should offer instructions for processing documents in YAML format: YAML GENERATE and YAML PARSE.
These formats are becoming more and more common and tend to replace JSON, which itself tends to replace XML.
YAML is richer in description capacity than JSON, particularly in handling text and line endings in multi-line texts.
I don't know about "YAML DTDs", for me YAML files are validated through a "JSON Schema".
Can you provide an example of a "YAML DTD"?
Thanks.
