ICIC should provide the ability to drop MACID from the NICDEF Directory Entry

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

By default ICIC defines a MACID for the NICDEF entry when a VM is created.

We have configured our zVM LPARs to utilize a SYSTEM MAC PREFIX but when a MACID is provided the LPAR uses the USER PREFIX for the MAC Address. In order for us to set the USER PREFIX on our LPARs we need a full outage of each SSI Cluster which is untenable in our environment.

We would like the ability to have the zVM system generate a MAC Address for the virtual machines by dropping the MACID statement from the NICDEF command nativly in ICIC.  Otherwise we will need to develop an manual process to accomplish this task when we are trying to move towards automated processes.
