Rational Developer for System z Improvement of sort while populating Remote Systems MVS Files Filter "Show in Table"

During this process the user can observe the table while the rows are being populated. Some row field values (e.g. size) may show "Pending..." for some time.

The user is also allowed to sort the table columns by clicking on them. This sort is incomplete where field values are "Pending..."

The table currently uses SWT.VIRTUAL so that only those cells which are visible to the user have their values resolved. This was done to avoid the performance problems associated with firing off queries for every single cell in the table. Unfortunately, this means that unless the user scrolls through the whole table, some cell values will never get resolved and therefore, in those circumstances, the table will not be primed for sorting.

Users want to use the well-performing table most of the time without sorting, but still want to be able to sort once in a while.
