RDz zUnit Enhancement - support batch and online execution

RDz zUnit should be enhanced to support CICS online execution. The current approach need to use batch to trigger a EXCI and then link to a online CICS transaction. This is not practical as usually the CICS online program will not be the starting program of the transaction. This is already out of "unit test" scope.

More and more enterprises are adopting the ‘Mobile first' strategy while offering customers online access to their services via Mobile apps. In order to react quickly to customers needs, changed market circumstances,… they are also searching for solutions that enable more frequent (continuous) deployments (becoming DevOps). One of the key elements here is the ability to automate testing (unit testing is part of it) in order to save on time and to guarantee on quality while deploying.

The services that are of the most value for the enterprise are these online, real-time, CICS services that are exposed to the Mobile channels. It would be of a great help if zUnit could be used too for CICS transactions and not only for callable Batch services.

To illustrate with some figures (company in financial sector): if zUnit is only usable for unit testing of batch services then only 20-30% of the application portfolio can be tested, which means that it is very difficult to defend a strategy in using zUnit for unit testing.

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
