IDz: Support Open New View (Ctrl+2) in COBOL, PL/I, and JCL editors

While editing COBOL, PL/I, and JCL files in IDz the LPEX editor supports View > Open New View (Ctrl+2). This option is powerful and yet unavailable in the COBOL, PL/I, and JCL editors. This causes developers to flip flop between LPEX and other editors. The net effect is frustration. Can IBM make this feature available in the COBOL, PL/I, and JCL editors?

Thank you for taking the time to suggest an enhancement to our product. Many of our product enhancements result from feedback from our customers, so your input is always very important to us; However, your request for enhancement is not currently aligned with our product strategy and vision and we have no plans to address your request in the near future. Again, thank you for your suggestion and continued support.

The COBOL, PLI and JCL editors extend the base Eclipse Text Editor. All base Eclipse Text Editors can use the Ctrl+{ key combination to Toggle Split Editor (Vertical) which has a similar affect as the LPEX View > New View (Ctrl+2). If you would prefer to use Ctrl+2 instead of Ctrl+{ then you can override the Ctrl+{ key binding in Preferences > General > Keys.
