This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Please see comments on each item in RFE request below -
1. The notion and purpose of the global variables is not to allow users to override - but for the tool to resolve the variable values based on the context, introducing some sort of hierarchy in variable resolution will make the concept very complex and hence we would like to keep the notion of user variables and global variables separate and would not want to go down the path of mixing the two concepts.
2. Its still not clear what the scenario is - if the requirement is to share the values in JCL Sub - then a copy of the Property group can be made and the values can be modified easily.
4. As mentioned before, since we can have multiple connections defined, it would not be a good idea to just highlight one, and as we realized a lot of the scenarios in various shops involves multiple connections.
4. Multiple connections are the exception (and can cause other problems)
1. If, for example, MEM is specified as user variable, the global variable setting will still be used. This means it is impossible to override a global variable.
2. No context menu is provided for JCL Substitution. This means cut/paste cannot be used to transfer settings. This deficiency increases the error probability when a large number of variables are involved.
1. Need more details/scenario
2. Need more details
3. This is already implemented
4. Can understand the request, but the issue is what do you do when there are multiple systems connected. Also the design is - Property groups are grouped per system - but its not necessary that you need to be connected to a system to create a property group.
