Content Assist for C code

We use C code here for our z/OS/CICS/DB2 based communications software. I see that when using the C/C++ editor under RD/z V7.6 that C code does not seem to support Content Assist. I see further that it does work with Cobol code.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for System z

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for System z

This RFE is being evaluated for delivery in an upcoming RDz release. Thanks.

We have PM15323 added to RD/z V7.6.1 on the client side but are still waiting for the z/OS side to catch up with the V7.6.1 at that end. Sop, we test this again as soon as the sysprogs catch up with us .

BUT, as I understand it, EXEC CICS and EXEC SQL does not work for C code and Content Assist. Is that true?

    Regards,

    Kevin

Can you give me any idea of proposed implementation date. To find that C does not have this feature when we are in the middle of implementing RD/z (admittedly not very quickly) is disturbing.

It seems to me that C has NO support with Content Assist.

    Regards,

This RFE is consistent with our roadmap and is being considered for delivery in a future release.

When I typed "EXEC in the RD/z editor and then I was expecting to see CICS or SQL (like I do in Cobol). In another thread on the forums, ankitp states that EXEC CICS and EXEC SQL is NOT supported in the C/C++ editor.

So, now my question still is why not and when will it be supported? C is a vital part of the environment here as all of the mainframe communications code is in C.

There is also an another space in between the "p" and "r" in propgrp in the URL that you posted ofr MVS. Maybe the forums should be able to post long URLs better that in this RFE?

We do have property groups setup for Assembler, Cobol & C.

    Regards,

    Kevin

    Kevin,

Something on your end seems odd as I am able to get to the URL just fine.

Are you pasting the entire URL as shown below. There is no space between i and ndex. Also the potion after ? starting with "topic" is also part of the URL. Let me know if they are still not working. Thanks.

So, it seems that the RFE Watchlist is kinda "dumb". It emails the notifications out even to the person that posts a new comment. Maybe you should modify that? I don't think I need to be notified that I added a comment.

I received a 2nd email asking for more information this morning, but see no reply to my original reply to the "more information" request.

Note again that the URLs provided are invalid. Bu, even when removing the space between the "i" and "ndex" in the word "index", I still get this:

"The topic that you have requested is not available. The link may be wrong, or you may not have the corresponding product feature installed. This online help only includes documentation for features that are installed."

The MVS URL provided gets this message (after I fix the space in "i ndex":

The topic that you have requested is not available. The link may be wrong, or you may not have the corresponding product feature installed. This online help only includes documentation for features that are installed.

If I am in a C module in RD/z (in a PDS member) then type:

EXEC I get a popup box showing "no proposals".

The same process works correctly for a Cobol PDS member.

Is there any issue with C code related to which editor is being used?

Our IBM tech support told us that CA did not work for C code, which is why this RFE was opened. Due to another issue with []{} characters NOT being handled correctly, we just switched the editor style from K&R used (default?) to GNU based on advice from our IBM support as well.

Content assist for C files works today unless they are Sequential Datasets. Can you please provide more detail on the actual issue you are seeing. Please see the documentation links below.
