This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

To fully use RDz for developing COBOL-CICS-DB2 applications that uses 3270-maps, replacing ISPF and SDFII we need to fully support in the area of the BMS Map Editor.
Currently, we find that some maps are supported, but we have identified three cases where the BMS Map Editor does not support. These three cases are:
1) Array where we have other fields in between. For example with SDFII, the user can define an array that does not need to be contiguous, it allows to have other fields in between. Currently with RDz BMS Map Editor, we can only define the distance between the fields belonging to the array (uniform), while in SDFII, the user can specify a specific array field to have a diferent distance with the preceding array field.
2) Structures that have nested arrays. We have found that the user defines a structure with columns, but for example, colum 3 to 7 are defined as an array within the structure. If the columns are coded as C1, C2, C3 we find that in the COBOL program referring to C1 and C2 will have one index, while when referring to C3,..C7 will have two indexes, the first index referring to row in the structure, the second index will identify the element of the array.
3) With SDF II we have found that the arrays (both vertical and horizontal) can expand in more than one column or row. With BMS Map Editor when we define an array, it will be horizontal or vertical, but it will only apply to one row or column. No way to "expand" in more than one row or column.
