What a stupid way to distribute PTF's

This is about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Come on IBM, so how many times do I have to run an APPLYCHECK before I finally have all of the pre's/co's? Why isn't maint. for this product dist. the same as Z/OS and CICS where we supply a file from SMPE, which tells you what PTF's we have installed, and then ship us the maint?

Hello Tom
correct - you will need UK54177 - I believe this is 7.6.0.1 before you
can install the host PTF for 7.6.1.
If you go to the web set to down load the PTF than I think there is no automation that the prereques will be downloaded too. Unfortunatly you
will not be able to download the PTF from SRD since we do not ship
the PTF to Boulder.
So to clear things up
passport advanatage is only for the GA version
our support web site for the service PTF's
I understand your frustration - a single way of deliver would be the
prefered way.
You can open a RFE request for requesting RD/z host PTF's to be
delivered the same way as other zOS software PTF's.

    Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
    Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
    Product - Developer for System z

    For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

    Product - Developer for System z

    Rational Developer for System z is shipped as a workstation product with server code that runs on different platforms, including System z. Since it is not shipped as a regular System z product, it does not use the normal z-channels for product and maintenance distribution. As a result, Developer for System z can not benefit from the additional functionality offered in these distribution channels.

    Developer for System z does offer the recommended fixes web page, http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&context=SS2QJ2&uid=swg27006335, which list each PTF and its prerequisites. You can download the PTFs from this page and apply them all simultaneously.
