Supply mainframe product release and PTF information in RD/z

In our shop, mainframe systems programmers install components such as Debug Tool, File Manager etc. Software developers install RD/z. Sometimes, the sysprogs are behind on maintenance releases of the mainframe components and this is NOT obvious to the software developers using client side products like RD/z.

In troubleshooting issues in software such as DT or FM (others also, I'm sure) using RD/z and supplying that information to IBM...it would be a wonderful thing for RD/z to be able to pull release and PTF levels for the mainframe installed products in an easy way to ship to IBM. This has the side benefit, I think, of allowing the client side folks to more easily determine what level the mainframe components are at and whether PTFs are needed.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for System z

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for System z

OK, that's it. I think about every RFE I put in is rejected with "minimal" comments. This one was rejected about 18 months after I entered it.

So, in this case, it takes 18 months to tell me you can't do something in the next 2 years? Sheesh, I thoght we were slow here!

I won't WASTE MY TIME submitting any more.

I don't accept this comment. RD/z interfaces with all sorts of products at the mainframe end already (File Manager, Debug Tool, IA, APA, PA...the list goes on and on. I fail to see how this functionality cannot be provided.

RDz is dependent of other products/components to provide us with versioning information that we can render through RDz. Due to this dependency RDz will not be able to deliver on this request within the next two year window. Thanks.
