Provide support to switch UID in zExplorers/iDZ

Hello,

under zOS we more and more have to deal with USS services and zFS-files. As a zOS systems-programmer not everybody knows in deep the possbilities and features of USS. Often we need to switch to UID 0 to do specific file-changes and this is only possible under TSO/ISPF or an unix-shell. To do this more secure and comfortable, it is necessary to have the chance to switch the UID also if we use any of the various zExplorers under Eclipse, or in iDZ.

Best regards,
Rainer Sachse

Your request is currently in line with our product strategy and we added it as a candidate for future releases of the product. Thank you for your suggestion and continued support.

Hi, I am sorry, I am not sure if this solves my problem, so that I can change files in explorer. In my company only one of my user IDs gets the UID 0, this is my main-user I use also in TSO/ISPF where I than can switch in the iShell to get the required authorization.

.Hi Rainer, would the following be an option that might suffice for you: enabling ssh terminals so that you can do an su from the terminal and edit directly from the terminal? Alternatively could you create a second connection with a second set of credentials?

As I described, I often have to change jvmprofiles or server.xml files and such ressources. Some of the files reside in protected directories, so I have to change my UID to 0. In TSO/ISPF that is no problem, but its very uncomfortable to edit bigger files there, or files with much columns. Also copying parts of data from one file to another is much more easy to do in the Explorer.

In order to evaluate this requirement further, we would like to request a more detailed use case for this requirement. Could you please provide additional details on the exact scenario?

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
