UNCOND option support for a GSAM resource in IMS managed ACB environment

In a management ACB environment, our customers must execute IMS Catalog Populate utility (DFS3PU00) or ACB Generation and Catalog Populate utility (DFS3UACB) when they update existing PSB/DBD resources. However, sometimes they need to fall back their updated PSB/DBD resources due to some mistakes.

In that case, PSB/DBD resources from ACBLIB can be fallen back with old ACBLIB and ‘MANAGEDACBS=(STAGE/UPDATE, UNCOND)’ option in DFS3PU00/DFS3UACB. However, currently the combination of ‘MANAGEDACBS=(STAGE/UPDATE, GSAM=xxxxxx, UNCOND)’ option is not supported, our customer is not able to fall back GSAM DBD from old DBDLIB. Before fallback operation, they must run DBDGEN with old DBD source just to move forward the timestamp in module, or they need to run IMS Catalog Record Purge utility (DFS3PU10) to delete the old version of the DBD instance. 

The fallback operation difference between old ACBLIB and old DBDLIB looks very inconsistent. The difference compels our customers to prepare different fallback procedure depends on the resources in ACBLIB(PSB/DBD) or DBDLIB(GSAM DBD). We believe DFS3PU00/DFS3UACB should support the combination of ‘MANAGEDACBS=(STAGE/UPDATE, GSAM=xxxxxx, UNCOND)’ option.
