IMS as a Flows Process Application Server

Banco Itau is defining a new architecture to their IMS applications in order to meet requirements such as availability, time to market, reduce unnecessary network traffic, flexibility, reduce application development costs, etc. This new architecture could be seen as a Broker implementation on IMS where there will be a set of transactions receiving the input and based on the contents, it will call additional programs to complete the business transaction, based on a repository of business applications. In order to make this implementation easier it is necessary that IMS could support a message switch process where the initial transaction receives the control back as soon as the "called" transaction finishes. A tooling to generate IMS Flow Process driver program with compensation to ease dealing with backout situations is also required to ease application development and error recovery.

--There are two requirements mentioned in this RFE. The first one is related to IMS, and it has been satisfied by the IMS V13 synchronous program switch function. The second one is related to IMS tools. For the tools requirement, the customer should open a separate requirement to the IMS TOOLs.
