This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Today we see an increasing demand from our IMS application developers to be able to reach out to applications outside the mainframe and wait for a reply. Many of these outside applications are housed in environments where MQ is a preferred way of communication. Thus in order to relieve the programmers from the task of exploring the native MQ-API it would be an elegant solution if it would be made possible to use the ICAL call to perform a synchronous callout to a MQ destination in a similar manner as calling another IMS transaction.

Dear Per Lofgren:
Thank you for submitting this IMS enhancement request.
After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because the request has a high implementation cost. As a consequence we have, unfortunately, rejected this request.
We appreciate your input to the IMS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.
Sincerely,
Jack Yuan
