Enhance IMS JMS API or IMS JDR resource adapter for easier processing of synchronous program switch messages

IMS JMS API actually does not support comfortable methods to create field-based callout and callout response messages for synchronous program switch. IMS JDR resource adapter's class IOMessage already provides such a functionality. Please enable IMS JMS API to create and process field-based messages as easy as it is already possible with JDR resource adapter.

It the case the implementation of this causes to much effort, please add a method getBytesMessage to IMS JDR resource adapter's IOMessage class to be able to create an IMS JMS API callout BytesMessage from an IOMessage and a second method setBytesMessage to be able to create an IOMessage out of a callout response BytesMessage.

It is our mission, within IMS, to deliver high quality code to our clients. Our goal is that this enhancement continues to help drive success for your company!

I am excited to share with you that we have successfully delivered an enhancement that can help with the requested RFE ID 100612.

This enhancement has been delivered via IMS service process:
    - IMS 14 APAR[PTF]: PH14139[UI64957] - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?crawler=1&uid=swg1PH14139
    - IMS 15 APAR[PTF]: PH14157[UI64958] - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?crawler=1&uid=swg1PH14157

This APAR provides a number of enhancements including a new interface for issuing ICAL. For detail information about the new interface, see the documentation in the HOLD card section of the APAR.

Please share your feedback with us as you implement this enhancement.

    Have a great day!

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is to add this item to our backlog. Items in our backlog are expected to be started to work on within the next 18 months. We reserve the right to re-prioritize our backlog items as new requests come in. This helps ensure that we are constantly focused on providing the best value to all of our clients.

    Have a great day!

Please disregard the previous update as the post (rejection) is incorrect. Apologize for the confusion it may have caused.

At this time, after further review this request for enhancement, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE ID 100612 is because given our current priorities we cannot in good faith get to this within 18 months from the date that it is being opened. We value the requirement and will keep it for future consideration if there are more customer interest and priority changed. You are also welcome to resubmit this RFE at a later date and we will reconsider.

If you have any further question, please contact us.

    Thank you!

We are look at providing a solution for this that will be made up of a new direct API call for ICAL from the IMS Java DLI API without requiring the JMS API.
