There is a requirement for both monthly or comparing two different days to understand which CEC, LPAR or Service Class workloads is driving the increased or decreased CPU, MIPS or MSU consumption

Why is it useful?

  • Currently we manually program & report two different periods to understand which detailed level of workload is driving the increase or decrease that takes time.
  • Intellimagic having this very important, common and repeatable reporting and analysis capability would be of enormous benefit not only to Fidelity but to all customers and help establish and standardize on tabular method of quantifying formally how to report and analyze % increase / % decrease that everyone asks for.

Who Would Benefit from it?

  • Fidelity and all customers and help standardize and formalize how gap analysis and reporting /analyzing % increase / % decrease can and should be reported in a tabular format?

How should it work?

  • In tabular format have detailed CEC or LPAR or Service Class or Transaction Names in column, Second column have first period values in CPU Time, MIPS or MSUs and third column  have second period values for CPU Time, or MIPS or MSUs.  Fourth column contains calculated delta (Period 2 - Period 1), Fifth Column contains % increase/% Decrease for each row between Period 2 and Period 1, Sixth Colum contains % of delta for each row against Total of all Delta column.
  • Then sort Delta from highest to lowest and then in Seventh Column calculate Cumulative % with first row be Delta for first row.  Next Cumulative % being adding first row of Delta and Second row of Delta and so on.  Thus you can see how many delta row items would report out the significant percentage of % increase or % decrease between Period 2 and Period 1.
