This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The theoretical maximum number of concurrent users on e3270ui is 99. However, depending on storage layout, and constraints, the actual maximum number is lower (around 50-70). This limit may occasionally be too low. In particular, in the test/development environment where a lot of people is, most of the time, connected to Omegamon.
The recommendation is to run multiple TOM tasks if we need to exceed those limits however this implies that each user is assigned to a given TOM instance so it is not possible to balance the load amongst different TOM instances. This implies also a manual maintenance of users IDs to be sure the limit for each TOM instance is not exceeded.
Support of the VTAM generic resources function seems to be a standard, common and good option in order to balance the load of different TOMs transparently from the user point of view.

We have chosen to reject this RFE and apologise for any disappointment.
To create conditions where a higher number of concurrent users can log onto the e3270UI would require significant rework and would be unlikely to be exploited by a large number of client. We have decide to prioritise resources elsewhere on improving the e3270UI.
There is a valid workable solution already in place by starting additional e3270UI address spaces the cope with the number of concurrent users.
