Facilitate UTF-8 in the ZCEE service provider

In CICS Channels / Service Provider .....

Currently the z/OS Connect EE toolkit does NOT accept/recognise PIC U (i.e. UTF-8) statements as introduced in Enterprise COBOL for z/OS v6.3.

We have a requirement to ensure that ZCEE facilitates requests where the mapping needs to be based on mapped UTF-8 strings and retention of those strings (in full !) in CBL data structures which are themselves UTF-8 (i.e. PIC U) .

The requirement specifically relates to 'Dynamic-length UTF-8 data items' as opposed to 'Fixed byte-length UTF-8 data items'.

Based on :
ZCEE version 3.0.42
API Build Kit 3.9.700.202001272205

    Thank you for this RFE.

We have accepted this RFE due to the interest in UTF-8 support for fixed length fields.

Unfortunately it is not possible to support DYNAMIC fields in COBOL structures as an external caller to the application. This is because we we do not have access to the addressable memory of the COBOL app. As such we intend that this RFE will be delivered without support for DYNAMIC fields.
