Dynamically add and remove emulated volumes on a running zD&T

The alcckd command supports the volume versioning feature. This tracks changes to the volume which can then be committed or rolled back. The challenge is that this must be setup and then subsequently actioned when the volume is offline from the emulation. Currently this requires shutdown or the operating system and awsstop. We would like to be able to vary the volume offline from z/OS and then close it and make it offline from a zD&T emulation point of view, whilst leaving everything else running (OS, zD&T). This would allow us to use alcckd to rollback changes made in the last test. We would then need to be able to reopen the file in the zD&T emulation and then vary it back online to z/OS to repeat the test. This would save us the time that it takes to close z/OS and the emulation and then restart the emulation and re-IPL z/OS.

IBM has reevaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 12 months from the date of decline. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.

Thank you for taking the time to suggest an enhancement to our product. Many of our product enhancements result from feedback from our customers, so your input is always very important to us. Your request is currently in line with our product strategy, but may not be delivered within the release currently under development. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. Thank you for your suggestion and continued support.
