This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

IBM has reevaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 12 months from the date of decline. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.
Thank you for submitting this RFE. This is consistent with our plans for the product and will be prioritized for future consideration. The solution would operate only on Fixed Block size sequential file and would be very similar to PDSUTIL.
If we create a utility to modify sequential system z files, it will have the same restriction as PDSUTIL, i.e. you can change the data but you CANNOT change the size of the file. Would this be sufficient for your request?
Can you further clarify what type of artifact you want to modify? Is it a sequential data set on the MVS side or is it a file within Unix System Services that you want to modify?
