Restore a file from Shared File System backup into SFS without creating the entire directory structure of the user.

When a file from a Shared File System is restored, the entire directory structure from the original user filespace is created, even when just one file is restored. After the restore all these obsolete directories have to be removed again. Especially when a large directory structure, with subdirectories, is restored this might take quite some time.

Indeed the (sub)directory of the original file should be created, especially when multiple files are requested, but directories not included in the restore request should not be created.

Apart from creating directories, it also results in a Return Code 4, due to the fact that other files are skipped in the restore. This suggests the restore had some error, but in fact the file selection just didn't request the other files from the backup. In this case a Return Code 0 would be desired.

The product team has agreed to address the rc=4 issue so that successful restores to SFS return a return code 0 with only informational messages.

Regarding the request to not attempt to restore the entire directory structure, this is still under review. A decision will be made after the rc=4 issue is addressed.
