MWP enhancement to CICS SMF 110 records

IBM are trying to encourage customers to run mobile applications on z/OS by offering software pricing options such as Mobile Workload Pricing. WLM APAR OA47042 added the ability to identify transactions as MOBILE in the WLM classification rules. However, the classification rules do not have visibility to all the information that is in the CICS Type 110 SMF records, and some of those fields might contain information that identifies the transaction as coming from a mobile device.
If the customer wants to accurately report all the information about MWP-eligible CPU usage to IBM, they would have to process the Type 70 records, and then somehow recreate the WLM Classification logic when processing the CICS Type 110 SMF records so they could identify which transactions are included in the WLM MOBILE category and which have not.
We would like to see CICS adding a flag in the 110 record to indicate that WLM has classified the transaction as MOBILE. The user-written program that would be processing the Type 110 records could easily and accurately ignore those transactions. The information about the WLM classification is already accessible to CICS - it would simply take a few instructions to add that to the SMF record.

We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
