Alternative way to manage CICS supplied definitions

I suggest that CICS development move away from CSD-based definitions for CICS-required resources and begin using EXEC CICS CREATE during region startup to ensure that all resources are defined, and defined properly.

CPSM began using this approach a couple releases ago. It has greatly simplified CPSM system resource definitions, and ensures they get defined properly after PTF maintenance is applied. The PTF level of the resource being defined is written to the MSGUSR log when it is created.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

We currently do not have plans to change the way we install existing resources required by CICS.

We create a LIST with just the DFH groups that we wish to install, so that we only install the functionality that we require. We do not install all DFH groups. However, we do also copy and alter some definitions. For example, we alter our copy of the CEMT transaction to use a 27X132 screen size, and CECI to have a bigger TWASIZE. We also change CSGM to point at our own program, although SIT option GMTRAN allows us another way to acheive this

Our shop copies all the DFH groups to install from our copies. We alter some of the transactions to use alternate screen size and definately alter the TDQ group to group them as we would like. We do know that if a PTF alters the group, we will need to reflect the change in our copied group. I would not enjoy having to rework all our regions if we could not continue with this method.
