Seamless 64-bit Linux support for COBOL Importer

On Red Hat Linux 6.0 64-bit or newer, the COBOL importer code in IBM Integration Bus Toolkit does not work. Additional configuration is required to install RedHat libraries. Discussion with the Enterprise COBOL team reveals that this is a limitation with the COBOL code. Given the prevalence of 64-bit these days, this should work out of the box.

The library workaround is described here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSRTLW_9.1.0/com.ibm.j2c.doc/topics/tresolvingcobolimperrs.html?lang=en

IBM COBOL compiler is a continuous delivery offering, and aims to satisfy the needs of a rapidly evolving market segment.
Product strategy evolves and requirements are continuously evaluated against that strategy. This RFE has recently been reappraised against the wider product strategy and does not fall into IBMs delivery plans for the next 12 month. Whilst this RFE might be valid and we might look to deliver it longer term, this RFE is being rejected at this time. The requirement will be kept in our internal RFE backlog and might be reassessed in the future.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
    Product - COBOL Compilers

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
    Product - COBOL Compilers

This is a valid feature request and in line with our multi-year strategy. The RFE will be updated when this RFE is put into plan.
