Hi,
In addition to this evolution to support EXEC SQL in a User Defined Function, also fix the bug that prohibits compiling a Db2 program with SQL compilation option that uses a User Defined Function prototype.
See opened case TS019216286.
Thanks.
Hi Kristofer,
Thanks for the feedback. For the time being, we are accepting this idea, but we still require some more time to fully investigate it further. If our future investigation finds any concerns/roadblocks, we will update the idea and its status accordingly. Otherwise, we will update the idea once it has been put into plan for a future release.
Regards,
Basil
Hi Basil
Thanks for looking into this.
My primary use-case, and what I have tested, is using EXEC SQL within files that have/call user-definied function/prototypes. That is what I really would like to work.
This limitation is now also documented in the Enterprise Cobol 6.4 documentation: Structuring user-defined functions - IBM Documentation
I have not tested using EXEC SQL within a user-defined function.
Best Regards
Kristofer
Hi Kristofer,
May we know how you use EXEC SQL ie do you use it within the user defined function/prototype; or do you simply use EXEC SQL within files that have user defined functions/prototypes?
Thanks,
Basil
