Dear Madam/Sir,
In the frame of ensuring enhanced code quality, we would like to implement a new COBOL compiler option (rule) so an error or warning to be issued in case of existing DISPLAY statements in a program. The new parameter could be DISPLAYCHECK (or DC) while the default value could be NODISPLAYCHECK (or NODC). In addition, the COBOL message exit IGYMSGXT should be used to change the severity of the compiler message due to DISPLAYCHECK.
The solution is important to be implemented as it will mitigate the risk of system unavailability due to excessive DISPLAYs in JES2 spooler.
