Do not require password if client certificate provided for HOD-FTP

When a client certificate is used (like a PIV/CAC card) for identification to the FTP server then the client should not request a userid or password. The SSL/TLS session is done prior to the credentials and the server could determine the ID to associate with the certificate so there is no need for the additional credentials to flow. Currently the HOD FTP client requires the password even if the server is set to be optional.

    Hello,
We are evaluating to implement this feature.

From what we understand when we use a client certificate it should avoid asking for log in credentials. The server should validate the certificate even before the client server communication begins and before the SSL handshake completes. I suppose this is already in place.
Now, with client certificates the authentication is of the device that is sending the certificate rather than the user.
So, the requirement would be to be able to validate the certificate and set up the connection without any additional authentication. The problem is the user is asked for log in user id and password after the SSL handshake with a client certificate and it is unnecessary.

It is possible to avoid this by using anonymous user without a password configured with the HOD FTP server. Is this something that works for you?

    Hello,

Is this requirement for annonumus login or pick common name from certificate, use that as a user name?

    Thank you,
