IMS DB/Area Quiesce DBRC Enhancement

Database/Area Quiesce records that a quiesce has taken place by setting a flag in the DBRC ALLOC record. However this only applies if the database/area was actually open for update on an IMS subsystem at the time of the quiesce - otherwise there is no record that a quiesce was run to establish a recovery point. This makes it difficult for applications reading the RECON to find the timestamp that a quiesce was run and in order to determine a suitable timestamp for a recovery would need complex coding. This would be simplified if a QUIESCE record was written to the RECON regardless of whether the database/area was open at the time.

Dear Frank:  Thank you for submitting this IMS enhancement request.  After a comprehensive review, we regret to inform you that we have determined that at this time this request will not be a candidate for inclusion in an upcoming release because it is not consistent with the product direction. Hence, we have rejected this request.  We appreciate your input to the IMS development team.  Sincerely, Patrick Schroeck
