OTMA orphaned TIBs clean up

On May 26th, 2022, we had an incident due to IMS was reaching the maximum limit of TIBs As per the analysis, the situation was being caused by orphaned TIBs (case TS009519474) According to the analysis, some transactions coming from MQ-OTMA did not reply back to IOPCB and they were leaving orphaned TIBs in the memory. The application system running in this IMS is very old, back in late 1970, and it is very hard to modify the code. The idea is to create a IMS command to clean orphaned TIBs up.

    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS?s lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is to add this item to our backlog. Items in our backlog are expected to be delivered within the next 18 months. We reserve the right to re-prioritize our backlog items as new requests come in. This helps ensure that we are constantly focused on providing the best value to all of our clients.

    Have a great day!

Same for us except it was on 11/04/2022, the worst thing that happened was manifestation of "DFS1988W OTMA INPUT MESSAGES FROM HWSIM03 HAVE REACHED 80% OF THE MAXIMUM MESSAGE LIMIT 5000 IM03", it did not advance to 85% (or any higher percentage), it was not relieved (no DFS0767I manifested). a subsequent and timely scheduled COLD start on 11/06/2022 ensured the orphaned TIBs were eliminated, and the IBM Case was TS011138159.
