Provide option to apply GKB updates outside of SMP/E if that is the customer preference

Previously, monthly GKB updates were provided by a file which could be uploaded to reflect updated/changed products. However this was recently changed to enforce the use of SMP/E to apply GKB updates. This does not work in our shop for the following two reasons;

1) The team responsible for the management of IZSAM do not have access to the SMP/E environment, which only the z/OS Systems Programming team have access to.

2) The company policy as regards software maintenance is to apply RSUs on a 6-monthly basis, in a structured rollout.

We do recognise the merits of using SMP/E for software maintenance.

However, it would be far more effective for us to be able to apply GKB updates without having to wait for a 6-monthly RSU cycle, so we would ask for IZSAM to be able to support this.

Many thanks for considering this request.

    This would make updating the GKB a much easier task for those now able to do maintenance rollouts as often.  It would also allow the IZSAM team manage the GKB updates.
